The economics only work if every bay stays up and every squirt of chemical is metered. Each of the five subsystems below has a governing constraint — specify to the constraint, not to a brochure number.

1. High-Pressure Delivery — constraint: duty cycle, not peak pressure

The workhorse. Pumps, hoses and wands cycle continuously as customers trigger the gun, so size for the continuous rating and pressure stability, not a headline peak PSI. Everything downstream — chemistry draw, foam density, rinse — rides on stable high-pressure flow, which makes robust hoses and wands a durability item, not a luxury.

2. Chemical Dosing — constraint: ratio stability across a variable-flow bay

This is where a self-serve site quietly wins or loses money. Trigger-operated bays swing flow constantly; a positive-displacement injector holds the ratio (D = V_conc / V_water) regardless. Dosatron water-powered dispensers meter the exact percentage of presoak, foaming detergent, wax and drying agent into each bay's water line:

  • Precision — proportioners compensate for flow and pressure, so you never over- or under-apply.
  • Efficiency — trim flow to cut chemical and water per bay without losing coverage.
  • Reliability — metal-free, corrosion-resistant piston across high or low pH; no electricity, so bays keep dosing even if a booster pump fails.
  • Simplicity — no clog-prone venturi tips; set the ratio and forget it.

3. Drying & Pneumatic Systems — constraint: air quality

Blowers, adjustable nozzles and the compressed-air backbone behind spray control, brushes, doors and barriers. Air quality is the hidden variable: dust, oil and water in the line degrade every pneumatic device.

ARO Piggyback Filter-Regulators combine filtration and regulation in one compact unit built for the wet, dirty car-wash environment — available in 1000, 1500, 2000 and 3000 Series to match your air demand

4. Vacuum Systems — constraint: system curve

High-powered interior vacuums are a must-have. A central-vacuum system with correctly sized rotary-lobe blowers (Robuschi) is more efficient and maintainable than distributed standalone units; size to simultaneous-station demand on the vacuum curve.

5. Payment & Control — constraint: availability

In an unattended format the payment layer is revenue. Reliable coin, token and card options enhance customer convenience — and their uptime should be treated as production-critical.
