In animal feed production, several liquid additives are automatically added during the rehydration phases in the feed mixer (mould-inhibiting organic acids, emulsifiers and other liquid feed additives are injected into the water circuit before being sprayed).

Dosatron dosing pumps can be used during the rehydration phase (typically 1-3% water per tonne of feed) and ensure that liquid additives are easily, accurately and automatically dosed and mixed into the water circuit before being sprayed into the mixer.

The Advantages of the Dosatron Technology

Dosatron pumps guarantee the automatic correct dosage and dilution of concentrated liquid additives regardless of water pressure and flow variations in the mixer’s spraying system. The non-electric and self-priming Dosatron pumps provide in-line mixing and consistent dilution.

The dosing rate is easy to read and to adjust (the rate at which the additive is incorporated into the spray water is calculated using the volume of liquid additive and the volume of water per tonne of feed).

The Dosatron pumps can be run empty (without additives) without any risk of damage or interrupting the water supply. They can be easily and quickly serviced on site at any time - no tools required.

The Dosatron proportional dosing pump is also suitable for on-farm feed production as it is easy to install and operate.

Recommended Installation

  1. a. Dosatron D3 range (up to 50 l/min spraying flow) or D9 range (upt to 150 l/min spraying flow).
  2. Water inlet valve.
  3. 300 micron filter.
  4. Water pump.
  5. Pressure reducer.
  6. Dosatron Bypass valves.
  7. IBC containing the concentrated liquid additive (Mold inhibitor, Emulsifier, etc..).
  8. Non return valve (Back flow prevention).
  9. Sampling / Flushing valve or tap.
  10. Water meter to monitor the water pump n°4 (water volume & spraying time).
  11. Spraying nozzles in the mixer.
  12. Mixer.

Tips for Installing, Using and Maintaining your Dosatron

  • Install a 300 micron filter and a pressure reducing valve before the dosing pump.
  • If installed on a drinking water main line, the installation shall comply with the applicable disconnection standards (back-flow prevention system such as Class B disconnectors).
  • Install the Dosatron in a bypass system with 3 valves and a downstream bleed / test valve.
  • Install a non-return valve after the Dosatron.
  • Calculate your spray water flow rate in the mixer (volume of water sprayed divided by the spray time per batch of feed) to select the appropriate Dosatron flow range.
  • Calculate the Dosatron pump dosage percentage by dividing the volume of additive by the volume of water sprayed per tonne of feed produced.
  • Take into account the water pressure loss of the Dosatron (depend on the water flow) plus the pressure loss of the installation (counter pressure when the spraying system is on higher floors in the factory).
  • Rinse occasionally by injecting clear water.
  • Remember to change the dosing pump injection seals at least once a year.
  • Please contact us for the chemical compatibility of the additives used with the different Dosatron models (Additive Safety Data Sheet).
